Instructor Profile

What are you doing now?
I am a licensed massage therapist for Heartland Hospice. I go to our patients homes or the facilities they live in and provide massage therapy.
I also teach FTM at IME and oversee student clinic.

What do you remember most vividly about studying massage at IME/KCHA?
How much my eyes were opened to the real world I lived in. I called KCHA my "safe space" where I was supported at all times. I was challenged to question my thoughts I had had my whole life and see if they were mine or someone else's. What resonated with me?

How did IME/KCHA prepare you for your career? Would you recommend IME/KCHA? Tell us why.
KCHA helped me take care of myself so I could take care of others. They taught me great body mechanics, benefits of drinking water, how to really listen to others and how to be true to me.

What do you like most about being a Licensed Massage Therapist?
I love working with people. I love helping people pay more attention to their bodies and how they work. I love providing touch to people who don't receive much touch and seeing the peace and gratitude in them.

Please share any advice for current students or those considering studying at IME.
Be willing to do the work. If you are challenged to go out of your comfort zone(and you will be) do it! Be willing to grow and change! I always say" I would not be the person I am today without KCHA" which is so very true! I'm grateful that I was lead here.
