Philosophy

Institute for Massage Education has been a state licensed school since 1993, providing the highest quality of training for professional massage therapists in the country.  One of the key elements of this training involves the focus on self-care and the understanding that we can go with another only as far as we are willing to go with ourselves.  We have a clear understanding that as we become more fulfilled as human beings, we become better at whatever we do.  Our course offerings reflect that sentiment.

Dedication

The Institute for Massage Education is dedicated to improving the quality of life by touching others lives.  We do this by training professional massage therapists, offering a healing space for workshops and community events, and providing educational opportunities for practitioners in the healing arts and our greater community.

Education

We educate students in the Professional Massage Therapy Training Program by awakening their natural learning process in a safe, fun, and supportive environment so that they may become creative, successful, and effective bodyworkers for the highest good of all concerned.

Community

The Success Institute at Institute for Massage Education supports our community by providing a wide variety of opportunities that focus on professional and personal growth and success.

Caring

At the Institute for Massage Education of Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts, we care about our students.

We care that they get the best education in the region. We care that they learn the science of massage, but also the art of working with the body. We care that they come out of our program with the business and personal skills to make a career of massage for as long as they have a passion to do so.

Professionalism

All of our instructors are skilled practitioners in their healthcare profession and are currently practicing. That means that you won’t just get philosophical and scientific book learning, you’ll also be hearing from men and women who live what they’re teaching. Institute for Massage Education of Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts instructors are constantly weaving experiences from the therapy room into their lessons, from a situation encountered just days or weeks before, to wisdom developed over many years of practice.

Accreditation

The 600-hour program at the Institute for Massage Education of Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts is licensed by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Upon graduation, our students are fully-trained, certified massage therapists who are eligible to take any massage therapy licensing exam.

Curriculum

All of our classes are presented in the context of hard science and holistic health, which serves our graduates well as they build a client base and develop areas of expertise. Because the best way to learn about the body is to actually work with the body, our program is very hands on. We also thoroughly train our students in a wide variety of sound business practices, so they’re not lost in the professional world once they leave the walls of the Institute for Massage Education of Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts.

It’s no wonder that employers seek out our graduates. They are among the best trained massage therapists in the nation.
